The small Warwickshire village of Idlicote is situated just 3 miles north east of Shipston-on-Stour and only 8 miles south east of Stratford-on-Avon. The village contains the grade II listed house of Idlicote House and, even to this day, the Dovecote at the House is also a listed building. Back in the middle of the 19th century a race meeting took place in the village on Saturday 30th March 1861, although few further details are known about the event.
